01 · Tax residency

Non-Dom & Tax Consultancy

A tax home for up to 17 years, with no Cyprus tax on dividends or interest, inside a transparent EU framework.

17 yrsNon-dom benefit window
0%Tax on dividends & interest*
60 daysMinimum stay route
2.65%GESY, capped at €4,770/yr

Domicile is distinct from residence. You can be tax resident in Cyprus while remaining non-domiciled - and non-doms are exempt from the Special Defence Contribution (SDC) on dividends, interest and rental income. Unlike the UK and Malta, Cyprus doesn't use a remittance basis, so there's no need to keep money offshore to benefit.

The 60-day route is an alternative to the usual 183-day residency test, built for the internationally mobile. It requires five conditions to be met simultaneously - Cyprus presence, no 183+ days elsewhere, no tax residency elsewhere, Cyprus economic ties, and a permanent home in Cyprus. All five, every year.

Ins - what makes this work well
  • No remittance-basis complexity - funds can move freely, unlike the UK's historic non-dom regime
  • Full EU member-state standing, with treaty access across 65+ jurisdictions
  • Employment income still benefits from the 50% expat relief above the statutory threshold
  • No inheritance, gift or wealth tax on top of the dividend/interest exemption
Outs - what to watch for
  • All five 60-day conditions must hold for the full year - losing Cyprus ties mid-year forfeits that year's status
  • GESY still applies to dividends at 2.65%, capped annually - not a full 0% in practice
  • The 17-year window is finite; plan the position after it lapses
  • Non-dom status must be genuine and substantiated - it isn't a registration formality
02 · Corporate structuring

Company Formation Consultancy

One of the EU's most efficient corporate regimes - a 15% rate, a participation exemption, and full compliance handled end to end.

15%Corporate income tax
0%WHT on outbound dividends
~3%Effective IP Box rate
19%Standard VAT

We advise on incorporation with real substance behind it - the element that determines whether a structure holds up to scrutiny. That means shareholding and directorship designed correctly from the outset, not retrofitted after the fact.

The process runs in four stages: structure design, name approval and Registrar filing, tax and VAT registration with banking guidance, then ongoing accounting, payroll and annual filings once the company is operating.

Ins - what makes this work well
  • 15% is among the lowest corporate rates in the EU, with a broad participation exemption on dividends and share gains
  • No withholding tax on dividends paid out to non-resident shareholders
  • IP Box regime can bring the effective rate on qualifying IP income to roughly 3%
  • EU directive access (Parent-Subsidiary, Interest & Royalties) reduces cross-border friction
Outs - what to watch for
  • Substance requirements are real - a Cyprus company with no local activity is a compliance risk, not a shield
  • Annual filings, accounting and payroll obligations continue for the life of the company
  • VAT registration and 19% standard rate apply to most goods and services
  • Bank account opening for a new company requires KYC on shareholders and source of funds - plan the timeline
03 · Permits & relocation

Residence & Relocation

The 60-day route, permits, healthcare and the practical groundwork of making Cyprus home.

EU & non-EURoutes for both
60 daysMinimum stay option
GESYUniversal healthcare

EU nationals register their residence through the MEU process - a straightforward administrative step. Non-EU nationals apply for a temporary residence permit (the "Pink Slip") or a permit tied to work, business or investment, depending on circumstances. PMG advises and guides throughout; we are not a government authority and don't issue permits or visas ourselves.

Because tax residency, Non-Dom status and company setup are handled by the same team, the practical move and the financial picture are planned together rather than bolted on afterwards.

Ins - what makes this work well
  • EU nationals face a light-touch registration, not a discretionary application
  • Retirees benefit from favourable treatment of pension income
  • Schools and GESY registration are coordinated alongside the permit, not left to figure out separately
  • One point of contact across residency, tax and banking avoids gaps between advisers
Outs - what to watch for
  • Non-EU routes are discretionary and typically slower - timelines depend on the permit category
  • A permanent Cyprus home (owned or rented) is a hard requirement for the 60-day tax route, not optional
  • Investment-linked permits carry their own separate qualifying criteria and minimums
  • PMG does not issue official documents - government processing times sit outside our control
04 · Life in Cyprus

Property & Living

Finding the right home to rent or buy, in the city that matches how you want to live.

300+Days of sunshine/yr
EnglishWidely spoken
EUEuro · drives left

Cyprus was British until 1960, and the imprint remains - English in business, banking, healthcare and the courts, a common-law legal system, and driving on the left. For anyone relocating from the UK or the Commonwealth, daily life largely works the way you already expect.

Costs vary meaningfully by city. Limassol is cosmopolitan and sits at the higher end; Larnaca and Paphos are gentler on cost of living while still offering an established international community.

Ins - what makes this work well
  • English-language and British-curriculum schools are widely available - a major draw for relocating families
  • Two international airports and fast internet support remote and hybrid work
  • Cyprus is consistently ranked among the safer countries in Europe
  • An established international community means newcomers settle in quickly
Outs - what to watch for
  • Limassol pricing on property and daily costs can surprise those expecting a uniformly "cheaper" Mediterranean market
  • Private clinics are strong, but GESY coverage and private cover need to be arranged deliberately, not assumed
  • Popular school places, especially British-curriculum, can book out - timing the move around term dates matters
05 · Accounts

Banking

Local account opening advice for you and your family, with introductions to private banking.

Banking, utilities and residency paperwork are handled in English and coordinated alongside the rest of the relocation - so an account is open and functioning by the time it's actually needed, not chased afterwards.

For clients with more complex banking needs, PMG makes introductions into private banking relationships where the profile and relationship warrant it.

PMG also offers PMG Expat Plus, a banking membership that gives members access to a real Cyprus banking relationship, with perks and benefits only available through PMG.

Ins - what makes this work well
  • Guidance in English through a process that's otherwise easy to get stuck in as a newcomer
  • Private banking introductions available for qualifying profiles, not just retail account opening
  • Coordinated with company formation and residency, so account opening isn't a separate bottleneck
Outs - what to watch for
  • KYC and source-of-funds documentation requirements are genuine and can take time to assemble
  • Private banking introductions depend on profile - they are not guaranteed or automatic
  • Account approval timelines sit with the bank, not PMG, once the application is submitted
06 · Wealth structuring

Trusts & Structuring Consultancy

Advice on Cyprus international trusts and holding structures for wealth protection and succession.

EUDirective & treaty access
65+Double-tax treaties

The Cyprus International Trust (CIT) separates legal and beneficial ownership, making it one of the more robust structures in Europe for asset protection and succession planning. It sits alongside Cyprus's standing as a leading EU holding location - a broad participation exemption, EU directive access, and a notional interest deduction on new equity that lowers the effective rate.

Ins - what makes this work well
  • Strong statutory protection against later claims, when properly established
  • Assets can pass to the next generation outside forced-heirship rules
  • Favourable treatment of foreign-source income for non-resident beneficiaries
  • Pairs naturally with a Cyprus holding company for dividend and share-gain exemptions
Outs - what to watch for
  • "Properly established" is doing real work in that sentence - a trust set up without genuine intent or substance is vulnerable to challenge
  • Ongoing trustee and administration costs apply for the life of the structure
  • Forced-heirship exclusion depends on the settlor's and beneficiaries' home-jurisdiction rules interacting correctly with Cyprus law - this needs case-by-case review
